SC Senate passes bill to exempt taxes on feminine hygiene products

On Tuesday, April 30, the South Carolina Senate passed legislation exempting feminine care products from taxation.

The H. 3563 bill was passed with 46 senators voting in favor of the bill.

The decision will mean feminine care products like pads, tampons, and menstrual cups will all be tax free for women and girls across the state.

With the Senate’s approval, the legislation now awaits the signature of Governor Henry McMaster so it will be enacted into law.

Once enacted, South Carolina would be joining over 20 other states that have exempted feminine care products from taxation, says the South Carolina Senate Democratic Caucus.
